Introduction to the Send and Format Direct Messages

The messaging framework inside the AcceleratorApp Chat Center provides an instant, collaborative workspace for all members of your program. Rather than relying on scattered external emails, you can coordinate directly on program tracks, share quick updates, and collaborate on files without leaving the platform.

By taking advantage of formatting, targeted threads, and quick reactions, you can maintain professional communication standards while keeping your inbox tidy. Everyone can freely draft, edit, and delete their own text or files. However, higher administrative roles (such as Admins, Sub-Admins, and Coaches) possess unique oversight permissions to modify or delete content sent by other users to maintain workspace safety.

Where to Send and Format Direct Messages

Open your inbox by clicking the Chat section in the top-right corner of the navigation bar, select an active thread from your left panel, and locate the message composer box at the bottom of the active chat layout.

Step-by-Step

1. Type and send a message

Click into the text composer box at the bottom of your active chat window, type your message, and click the Send / Paper Plane icon (or press Enter) to display your text instantly to all participants without reloading.

2. Format your text

Highlight any portion of your drafted text or use the composer's message toolbar to apply styles such as bold, italics, bulleted or numbered lists, and hyperlinks before sending.

3. Create or reply to a comment thread

Hover over a specific message within the chat window, click the Reply / Speech Bubble icon, and type your text in the side panel that opens to create a nested discussion thread that doesn't clutter the main conversation.

4. Mention a user with "@"

Type the @ symbol followed by a participant's name directly inside the composer field, and select their profile from the pop-up menu to trigger an intentional attention flag for that user.

5. React with an emoji

Hover your cursor over any incoming message, click the Emoji / Smile icon, and select a reaction from the panel to instantly express acknowledgment or agreement; click the same emoji a second time if you ever need to remove it.

6. Attach and share a file

Click the Clip / Attachment icon in the message toolbar, choose a document or image from your local system storage, add optional accompanying text, and send it to tie the file permanently to that chat bubble.

7. Edit your own message

Hover over a message you previously wrote, click the More Options / Three Dots icon, select Edit, make your adjustments within the inline input frame, and save to update the message for all participants.

8. Delete your own message

Hover over your message bubble, select Delete from the options dropdown menu, and confirm the action to erase the text or attachment completely from the thread history.

Best Practices

  • Use threads for side talks: When an individual message sparks a deep or highly technical troubleshooting discussion, move your responses into a reply thread to keep the main channel clear for general program updates.

  • Double-check file visibility: If you add a file to a multi-person chat, remember that any participant can instantly view and download it; for sensitive financials or data, ensure your participant roster is audited first.

  • Leverage reactions to cut noise: Instead of typing short "Got it," "Ok," or "Thanks" messages that generate unnecessary unread alerts for everyone, use a simple checkmark or thumbs-up emoji reaction.
