Taxonomy: Using Tags in the Application Process
Introduction
Application Tags are a flexible way to organize, filter, and manage applications throughout the application process. Tags allow teams to label applications with internal markers such as eligibility, priority, themes, or review status—without affecting the application’s funnel stage.
Using tags improves visibility, speeds up reviews, and enables teams to work more efficiently when managing large volumes of applications.
Where to Find Application Tags
To manage Application Tags:
STEP 1: Click the menu icon in the top-left corner of the platform.
STEP 2: Select Taxonomy.

STEP 3: Click Application Tags.

This section allows you to create, edit, and manage all tags used for applications.
What Are Application Tags?
Application Tags are internal labels applied to applications to support internal workflows.
They can be used to:
- Group applications by category or theme
- Flag applications for follow-up or review
- Identify eligibility or compliance status
- Support bulk actions and filtering
- Add internal context without changing application stages
Tags do not move applications through the funnel and do not affect the applicant’s experience unless explicitly used in communications.
Creating an Application Tag
To create a new Application Tag:
**STEP 1: **Go to Taxonomy → Application Tags. **STEP 2: **Click Add Tag. **STEP 3: **Enter a tag name (for example: eligible, needs review, climate, finance). **STEP 4: **Save the tag.

Once created, the tag becomes available across all applications.
Assigning Tags to an Application
Tags are assigned directly from an application’s profile.
To assign a tag to an application:
STEP 1: Go to Applications.
STEP 2: Open an application from the Applications Overview.
STEP 3: Locate the Tags section in the left-hand panel.
STEP 4: Click inside the tag field.
STEP 5: Select one or more tags from the list.

Multiple tags can be applied to the same application.
Tags can be removed at any time by clicking the X next to the tag name.
Changes are saved automatically.
Filtering Applications by Tag
Application Tags can be used as filters in the Applications Overview.
To filter applications by tag:
STEP 1: Go to Applications.
STEP 2: Open the Applications Overview.
STEP 3: Click Add Filter.
STEP 4: Select Application tag.
STEP 5: Choose the tag you want to filter by.

The application list will update to display only applications that match the selected tag.
Filtering by tags is useful for:
- Reviewing specific subsets of applications
- Performing bulk actions (emails, exports, evaluations)
- Quickly identifying priority or flagged applications
Practical Examples of Using Application Tags
Common use cases include:
- Marking applications as eligible or ineligible
- Flagging applications that require additional review
- Grouping applications by industry or theme
- Identifying applications with missing or sensitive information
- Supporting internal decision-making without altering funnel stages
Best Practices
- Use clear and consistent tag names so all team members understand their purpose.
- Avoid creating duplicate or overlapping tags.
- Use tags for internal organization—not as a replacement for funnel stages.
- Periodically review and clean up unused tags to keep taxonomy manageable.
