Introduction to Filtering Startups
Managing a growing ecosystem requires finding specific subsets of companies quickly. AcceleratorApp provides a multi-layer filtering system within your portfolio directory. This allows you to drill down into your startup data based on precise administrative metadata, operational stages, timeline milestones, and tailored custom profile fields.
Whether you need to isolate startups created within a specific timeframe, audit companies that haven't updated their business profiles recently, or group startups by their connected mentors, these filter parameters handle the heavy lifting instantly.
Where to Find Startup Filters
Navigate to Startups > Startup Portfolio from your top navigation menu. All filtering options, saved segments, and search tools live directly in the top horizontal bar above your main directory list.

Step-by-Step
1. Access the Advanced Filters
Click the Filter button located on the top toolbar of your Startup Portfolio dashboard to open the parameter panel.
2. Apply Classification Properties (Industries & Tags)
Select your targets from the Industries or Tags drop-down lists to immediately narrow down companies by sector or operational classification.
3. Filter by Platform Timestamps
Set exact calendar parameters using date selectors to filter by Date Startup Created, Date of Last Update, or Date of Company Information Last Update.

4. Isolate Program Assignments
Filter your list by tracking variables including Current Startup Program, Assigned Startup Program, and the Assigned Program Start Date to evaluate cohort progression.
5. Filter by Connected Stakeholders
Use numerical thresholds and relationship selectors to filter by the count of # Users Connected, # Founders Users, or specific Mentors Connected to monitor advisor engagement.

6. Filter by Custom Profile Fields
Scroll to the custom metadata options to segment your dashboard using any unique single-choice, multiple-choice, or text input fields built into your custom Startup Profiles.

7. Use Broad Search for Deep Queries
To scan for deep matching strings inside internal notes, forms, or messages alongside your active filters, click the Broad Search icon (🔍➕) on the right side of the main lookup field. To learn more about Broad Search for Startups click here.

Best Practices
Combine Filters for Precision: Layer your criteria (e.g., combine Industry: Fintech + Current Program: 2026 Cohort + Date of Last Update: Last 30 Days) to generate focused operational updates.
Track Stale Profiles Regularly: Run routine monthly sweeps combining Date of Company Information Last Update with an older date range to identify founders who need to refresh their profile information.
Save Frequent Search Parameters: If you repeatedly check the same segment (such as active software startups with over 2 connected mentors), save your configuration as a preset view to access it in one click. Click here to learn more about Saved Views
