Tracking applicant data through GTM and GA4

Track applicant data for marketing or organizational purposes


To externally track applicant data for marketing or organizational purposes, it is important to have Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics (GA4) set up for your organization.


If you have them already set up, kindly forward your GTM ID to our customer support team to assist with the installation on your organization’s application page, and then proceed with Step 2.

If you haven’t set up these tools yet, please follow the detailed steps provided below, or contact our support team for further assistance.

 

Step 1: Set up Google Tag Manager (GTM)

1. Confirm your GTM account: Ensure you have a GTM account. If not, set one up by following this guide: Set up Google Tag Manager

2. Copy your GTM ID: After setting up your GTM container, navigate to your GTM dashboard and locate your GTM ID at the top. It should look something like “GTM-XXXXXXX”. Copy this ID.

3. Submit your GTM ID: Please forward your GTM ID to our customer support team to assist with the installation on your organization’s application page.

 

Step 2: Set up Google Analytics (GA4)

1. Create a GA4 account: If you haven’t already, set up your Google Analytics 4 account by following these instructions: Set up Google Analytics (GA4).

 

2. Locate your Measurement ID:

a. Go to the Admin section in GA4.

b. Under “Data Collection and Modification”, click on “Data Streams”.

c. Select the “Web” tab, then click your web data stream.

d. Your Measurement ID will appear in the first row of the stream details and will look like “G-XXXXXXXXXX”.

 

3. Create a GA4 tag in GTM:

a. Visit Google Tag Manager and sign in.

b. In Tag Manager, select your account, then your container.

c. Navigate to the “Tags” section and click “New”.

d. Name your tag (e.g., “GA4 Measurement ID”).

e. In “Tag Configuration”:

f. Choose “Google Analytics: GA4 Configuration” as the tag type.

g. Enter your GA4 Measurement ID in the “Measurement ID” field.

h. In “Triggering”, select the “All Pages” trigger.

i. Click “Save”.

 

4. Publish your tag:

a. Click “Submit” in the upper right corner.

b. In “Submission Configuration”, choose “Publish and Create Version” to publish your changes live, or select “Create Version” to save without publishing.

c. Provide a name and description for this version and review your changes in the “Activity History”.

d. Click “Publish”.
