How to use core metrics?
Introduction to Core Metrics
Core Metrics in AcceleratorApp are foundational data points used to track and analyze startup performance. These metrics are pre-configured and tailored for monthly collection to provide consistent insights into areas such as cash allocation, sales, financing, and more.
Admins can manage metrics directly in the platform, ensuring startups report data relevant to their business models and operational states. The data is stored within the Startup Portfolio and Startup Files, allowing for streamlined tracking and analysis.
Getting to the Metrics Section
- Navigate to the Startups section on the top menu.
- Select Metrics and Data Collection section.
Here, you will see metrics pre-configured by AcceleratorApp, as well as options to create custom metrics or categories. For guidance on creating custom metrics, click here.
Step-by-Step Actions
Core Metrics Overview
Core Metrics are classified into five categories:
- Cash Allocation
- Customer/User
- Employees
- Sales
- Financing
- Default State: Core Metrics are enabled by default. However, you can request to disable specific metrics by contacting our Customer Service Team.
- Monthly Collection: Metrics are updated monthly in both the Startup Portfolio and individual Startup Files for consistent tracking.
Core Data and Business Model
When a startup is created or accepted into a program, it is categorized based on its business model and state. This process involves answering four Yes/No questions to define the business model:
- Is your product or service live yet?
- Are you generating sales yet?
- Is your revenue model recurring?
- Do you have free users?
Building on the previous responses, core metrics will be automatically assigned to each startup according to a predefined logic.
From the Metrics and Data collection section, you will find out what data is collected from startups according to their type of business model, based on each metric logic and definition:
Calculated (Smart) Metrics
Calculated metrics, or KPIs, use Core Metrics to provide additional insights. They help measure performance across the five primary categories (e.g., cash allocation, sales, etc.)
- Access descriptions of calculated metrics by clicking Calculated Metrics at the top of the Metrics and Data Collection page.
- These KPIs leverage startup-provided Core Metric data to produce actionable performance insights.
