Learn the types of users you will have in AcceleratorApp

Types of Users in AcceleratorApp

AcceleratorApp provides three broad categories of user roles, each with varying levels of access and permissions. Additionally, organizations can create custom user roles to better fit their needs. For more details on creating custom roles, refer to this artcile.

Incubator/Accelerator Team Members (Employees)

This category includes roles with the highest level of access and control within the system. These users manage the incubator/accelerator and its programs. The basic AcceleratorApp plan includes two licenses for these roles. If additional licenses are needed, they can be purchased for an extra cost.

Roles in this category:

  • Admin
  • Admin & Coach
  • Sub-Admin
  • Staff
  • Coach

File Access:

Staff, Coach, Admin, and Admin & Coach roles have full visibility into all user information within the AcceleratorApp account.

Sub-Admin role has limited file access and can only view files for users assigned to them or their program.

Create & Edit Access:

Admin and Admin & Coach roles have full editing rights, including access to the Admin Panel, user management, mentor management, program settings, data collection, forms, email settings, and application funnel editing.

Sub-Admin role has admin privileges for programs and funnels they are assigned to, while having mentor privileges for other areas.

Incubator/Accelerator Network

This category supports the organization by providing users with visibility into assigned files. These roles typically come with unlimited licenses under the basic AcceleratorApp plan.

Roles in this category:

  • Mentor – For users invited to join as mentors.
  • Expert – For users invited as domain experts.
  • Evaluator – For users invited to assess applications.

Mentors and Experts share the same privileges but differ in title based on their expertise.

General Access:

Access to Scheduling, Tasks, Applications, and Search Community features.

Application Files Access:

Evaluators, mentors, and experts can view applications they are assigned to.

Startup Files Access:

  • Mentors and Experts can access startup files if they are assigned to them.
  • Evaluators do not have access to the mentoring dashboard, as their role is focused on applications.

End Users

This category represents the entrepreneurs interacting with the incubator/accelerator. The basic AcceleratorApp plan includes unlimited licenses for these roles.

Roles in this category:

  • Applicant – Assigned automatically when someone applies.
  • Founder – Assigned when someone is accepted as a startup founder.
  • Community Member – Assigned when someone joins the incubator as a participant but without a startup.

The main difference between Founder and Community Member is the presence of a startup. Founders have a linked startup, while Community Members typically join for networking, learning, or hackathons.

Custom User Roles

Organizations using AcceleratorApp can create custom user roles tailored to their needs. These roles can be adjusted to have specific permissions and access levels. For more details on how to create and manage custom roles, refer to this article.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Define Clear Roles: Assign roles based on responsibilities to ensure appropriate access.
  • Use Custom Roles Wisely: Tailor permissions to match your workflow while maintaining security.
  • Review Access Regularly: Periodically check and update roles to match organizational changes.
