Introduction to Anonimizing Applications Data
In a fair and unbiased selection process, protecting sensitive information is paramount. The Funnel Visibility Settings allow administrators to anonymize applicant identities during the evaluation phase. By hiding names, emails, and personal identifiers, you ensure that judges, experts, and evaluators focus solely on the quality of the project or startup, reducing unconscious bias and ensuring data privacy compliance.
Notes:
- Admins always maintain full access to all information. These restrictions specifically target roles like Mentors, Experts, and Evaluators.
- This feature is available only in certain plans.
Where to Change the visibility restrictions in a Funnel.
Step-by-Step
1. Set up the Application Funnel.
- Navigate to the Funnels management page (Applications > Funnels).
- Select the funnel and click on the pencil icon to edit it.
- On the right-side menu, click the Settings tab.
- Scroll down to the anonymization toggles. You have two levels of control:
"Anonymize the applicant name. For users like mentors, experts, and evaluators" and "Anonymize the applicant personal information (name and email). For users like mentors, experts, and evaluators." - Save and publish your changes.
Best Practices
- Use visibility restrictions for highly sensitive data such as personal identifiers.
- Review user role permissions regularly to ensure access levels are still appropriate.
- Avoid over-restricting data if it’s essential for evaluators to make informed decisions.
- You can also add visibility settings at the individual question level within the intake form. In this case, visibility adjustments should be made when creating or editing the form.
