How to Export Startup Metrics and Data

Learn how to export startup metrics and data in AcceleratorApp — including formatted and raw metric reports from the Startup Portfolio, and per-startup exports from the individual startup file.

Exporting startup metrics and data allows program managers to analyze performance, track progress over time, and identify areas for improvement. There are two types of exports available from the Startup Portfolio — startup profile data and metrics — and an additional metrics export available inside the individual startup file.

Where to Find Startup Exports

From the top menu, click on Startups and open the Startup Portfolio. The Export button is located in the top-right area of the portfolio view.

Exporting Startup Metrics

Step-by-Step

1. Export Metrics from the Startup Portfolio
  1. From the top menu, click on Startups and open the Startup Portfolio.
  2. Click the Export button.
  3. Click Export Metrics.

Export Metrics button

  1. Select a format — Formatted Metrics or Raw Metrics.

Format selection

  1. Retrieve the file from Export History (Profile Menu, top-right corner).

What each format contains:

Formatted Metrics — An Excel file structured for analysis and reporting:

  • An All tab, organized by year, where columns represent months and rows represent startup segmentation — showing total number of startups and averages per metric across the portfolio.
  • Separate tabs per program, following the same month/row structure.
  • A summary tab where each column is a startup and each row is a metric type (e.g. Sales, Expenses) showing total values per startup.

Raw Metrics — A single-tab Excel file with one row per metric entry, containing the following columns:

  • Startup name
  • Program
  • Date of entry
  • One column per metric type (e.g. Sales, Expenses, and any other configured metrics)
2. Export Startup Profile Data from the Startup Portfolio

To export the full startup profiles and associated data:

  1. From the Startup Portfolio, click the Export button.
  2. Click Export Startup.

  1. Select the file format.

Export Startup format selection

  1. Retrieve the file from Export History.

This export contains startup profile data only — it does not include metrics. To export metrics, use Export Metrics (Step 1) or the Analytics tab inside the individual startup file (Step 3).

3. Export Metrics from the Individual Startup File

To export metrics for a single startup:

  1. Open the startup file by clicking on any startup in the portfolio.
  2. Navigate to the Analytics tab.
  3. Click Export Metrics.

The exported file contains one tab per metric collection date, allowing you to track how each metric evolved over time for that specific startup.

Best Practices

  • Use Formatted Metrics for presentations and board reports. The structured layout with program tabs and monthly columns makes it easy to share progress with stakeholders without additional formatting.
  • Use Raw Metrics for custom analysis. The flat structure is ideal for importing into BI tools, pivot tables, or any custom data processing workflow.
  • Use the startup file export for deep dives. When you need to understand the evolution of a single startup's metrics over time, the per-collection-date tabs in the Analytics export give you a clearer picture than the portfolio-level reports.
  • Always check Export History. Exports are processed in the background — go to your Profile Menu and open Export History to download the file once it shows as Completed.
